Safeguarding Your Mental Health During Quarantine

Updated: Apr 18

Quarantine and social distance become commonplace globally due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) and the government implemented strict measures to fight the novel virus. Social distancing is the only way in reducing the spread of virus.

But, the implications for people's mental wellbeing cannot be overlooked.

A recent study from medical journal The Lancet stated that mental health during quarantine can be great, resulting in health concerns from anxiety and anger to sleep disturbances, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), change in eating patterns, etc.

The factors responsible for disturbing mental health are boredom, lack of information, financial problems, etc. #coronatrend

What Individuals Can Do

Individuals have to establish their own ways of safeguarding mental health at home.

Here are some tips for maintaining good mental health:-

  • Create your Time Table - Make a list of things that you want to achieve each day add productive things in the list.

  • Change Activity - After every three hours change your activity and take some break in between your activities and you're able to do more than three activities each day.

  • Take Care of your Body - Eat healthy diet, get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of water and do home workouts, yoga asanas, and meditation.

  • Stay connected - Approach your colleagues or friends via video call and chat with them. Stay informed about the situation via a reliable source.

  • Fight boredom - You can watch TV shows or series or movies. To fight boredom, you can enjoy with your family playing Ludo and many other games. Try productive things like reading books, learn new languages or master your skills.

Engage in activities that give pleasure and a sense of meaning and help others.
